Entity-Attribute-Value [EAV]

A data model[1] that represents data[3] as a collection of entities, their attributes[2], and corresponding values.

Defined Terms
1. data model.

A representation of the data structures in a table for a company’s database and is a very powerful expression of the company's business requirements. This data model is the guide used by functional and technical analysts in the design and implementation of a database.

2. attributes.

Characteristics of data either in a software application or data warehouse.

3. data.

Numbers, characters, or images in a form which can be assessed by a human or (especially) input into a computer, stored and processed.
