Data Warehouse

The combining of many different databases across an entire enterprise. It is A collection of data[2] designed to support management decision-making. Data warehouses contain a wide variety of data that present a coherent picture of business conditions at a single point in time. Development of a data warehouse includes development of systems to extract data from operating systems plus installation of a warehouse database[1] system that provides managers flexible access to the data.

Defined Terms
1. database.

A set of data. A permanent, self descriptive store of interrelated data items arranged in a logical way that can be accessed by various computer programs.

2. data.

Numbers, characters, or images in a form which can be assessed by a human or (especially) input into a computer, stored and processed.
