Interactive Voice Response system [IVR]

A system that consists of telephony equipment, software application[2](s), a database[4] and a supporting infrastructure[1] that is used for information[3] collection using voice or the telephone key pad on the phone.

Defined Terms
1. infrastructure.

The generic term to include all application software, operating systems, network communications and database management systems with an organization.

2. application.

A set of software programs designed to achieve a specific task.

3. information.

The by-product of having data in an HR System. Data is gathered and reviewed providing information for decision making.

4. database.

A set of data. A permanent, self descriptive store of interrelated data items arranged in a logical way that can be accessed by various computer programs.
