Performance Testing

Testing[2] that is conducted to verify the system will respond appropriately to the action that is taken. This measures the time for the system to accept the transaction[1], process[3] the report or bring up a page.

Defined Terms
1. transaction.

A process whereby the exchange of information between a local and remote program achieves a result. The result is achieved only when all operations within the transaction are executed successfully.

2. Testing ( Testing )

The processes around making sure that changes to systems are implemented correctly. This includes running programs, entering data and viewing system results.

3. process.

The mechanism through which the data are transformed, manipulated and created into output such as a report, a decision etc. A series of activities that need to be carried out to accomplish some sort of organizational goal. A sequence of events or activities that are triggered by something happening and results in something being achieved.
