Entity

“Any singular, identifiable and separate object. The term is used in a number of programming languages/concepts, database[1] management and systems design. In relation to a database, an entity is a single person, place, or thing about which data[2] can be stored. In data modeling (a first step in the creation of a database), an entity is some unit of data that can be classified and have stated relationships to other entities.”

1. database.

A set of data. A permanent, self descriptive store of interrelated data items arranged in a logical way that can be accessed by various computer programs.

2. data.

Numbers, characters, or images in a form which can be assessed by a human or (especially) input into a computer, stored and processed.
