Hyperledger Fabric

An open source[2] blockchain[3] framework[4] and implementation[1] designed for enterprise use cases, providing privacy, scalability[5], and permissioned network capabilities.

Defined Terms
1. implementation.

The structured process of integrating an application into workforce processes. It includes the installation, configuration and data population and testing of an information technology system. Putting in place a collection of components and objects to perform that function they were designed to do.

2. open source.

Code that is available publicly and that anyone can use. People can take it and modify it for their purposes.

3. blockchain.

An encrypted digital record of transactions. The name comes from its structure, in which individual records, called blocks, are linked together in single list (or chain) using cryptography. Information held on a blockchain exists as a shared and continually reconciled database. Each block is protected with a timestamp and transaction date and link to the previous block.A decentralized and distributed ledger technology that securely records and verifies transactions across multiple computers or nodes, providing transparency, immutability, and trust.

4. framework.

A skeletal structure of components and objects and provides plug-in points and sockets for integration and interchangeability.

5. scalability.

The degrees to which the system, network, or process of a computer’s hardware or software can be expanded in size, volume, or number of users served and continue to function properly. The ability of a system or network to handle increasing workloads and data volumes while maintaining performance and responsiveness.
