Project Management Body of Knowledge [PMBOK]

An inclusive term that describes the sum of knowledge within the profession of project management[1]. As with other professions such as law, medicine, and accounting, the body of knowledge rests with the practitioners and academics that apply and advance it. The complete project[2] management body of knowledge includes proven traditional practices that are widely applied and innovative practices that are emerging in the profession. The body of knowledge includes both published and unpublished material. The PMBOK is constantly evolving.

Defined Terms
1. project management.

The application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements.

2. project.

An interrelated set of tasks with a beginning and an end that is bounded by time, resources, costs and desired results.
