Release Management

A process[1] intended to control the development, testing[2], deployment and support of software and hardware releases, ensuring that changes to the software or hardware do not negatively impact existing programs and services.

Defined Terms
1. process.

The mechanism through which the data are transformed, manipulated and created into output such as a report, a decision etc. A series of activities that need to be carried out to accomplish some sort of organizational goal. A sequence of events or activities that are triggered by something happening and results in something being achieved.

2. testing.

The processes around making sure that changes to systems are implemented correctly. This includes running programs, entering data and viewing system results.
