Stress Testing

A method[1] of testing[2] that emphasizes availability and error handling under extremely heavy data[3] processing loads to ensure software does not crash due to insufficient resources.

Defined Terms
1. method.

A description of what happens, or is carried out, by an object in response to a message. It is also referred to as an operation or service.

2. testing.

The processes around making sure that changes to systems are implemented correctly. This includes running programs, entering data and viewing system results.

3. data.

Numbers, characters, or images in a form which can be assessed by a human or (especially) input into a computer, stored and processed.
