Work Package

A deliverable or project[3] work component at the lowest level of each branch of the work breakdown structure[1]. The work package includes the scheduled activities and schedule[2] milestones required to complete the work package deliverable or project work component.

Defined Terms
1. work breakdown structure.

In a project plan this refers to the detail list of tasks, the order they are to be completed in and the persons that are to be completing them.

2. schedule.

Time sequenced plan of activities or tasks used to direct and control project execution. Usually shown as a milestone chart, Gantt or other bar chart, or a tabulator listing of dates.

3. project.

An interrelated set of tasks with a beginning and an end that is bounded by time, resources, costs and desired results.
