Repository

Stores information about software versions, documentation, executable files, models, or source code. It is usually in a centralized position within the enterprise computing architecture.

Request for Information

Used to obtain information about a vendor to determine fit for an evaluation. It is designed to collect information about the prospective vendor’s company, capabilities, skills and experience. A document that requests information about a vendor’s product and sets out requirements for a software system and usually contains functional needs, vendor information request, technical and infrastructure requirements, as well as pricing and contract details.


Request for Proposal

A document that an organization posts to elicit bids from potential vendors for a desired systems solution. The RFP specifies what the organization is looking for and establishes evaluation criteria for assessing proposals.


Return on Investment

A capital budgeting metric in which the flow of benefits that results from an investment is compared with the cost of the investment, usually in the form of a ratio using the cost of the investment as the denominator.


Reusable Software

Software components or modules that can be used across different applications or projects, saving development time and effort.


Reuse

Refers to the inclusion of part of a pre-written piece of programming code in another application. The code may be stored in an internal library or may be obtained from external sources.


Reverse Engineering

The process of analyzing and understanding the design, structure, or functionality of an existing system or application to replicate or modify it.


Right to Erasure

The legal right of individuals to request the deletion or removal of their personal data from databases or systems.


Risk

An uncertain event or condition that, if it occurs, has a positive or negative effect on a project’s objectives.
