Drill Down
The process of viewing data from a summary level to a more detailed level. To drill down through a series of folders, for example, on a desktop means to go through the hierarchy of folders to find a specific file or to click through drop-down menus in a graphical user interface (GUI). To drill down through a database is to access information by starting with a general category and moving through the hierarchy of field to file to record.
Dynamic Resource
The process of dynamically assigning and reallocating allocation computational resources, such as processing power or storage, based on the changing needs and demands of an application or system.
e-Business
A way of conducting business electronically, over the Internet, leveraging technology initiatives such as e- commerce, electronic data interchange (EDI), and electronic funds transfer (EFT). Electronic storefronts, self-service Web applications, and Web-based supply chain integration are a few examples of new e-business opportunities.
Ecosystem
A metaphor describing the way different entities interact in a component-based computing environment, in the same way a biological community of organisms interact in their physical environment/A community or network of interconnected entities, technologies, and stakeholders that collaborate and interact within a specific domain or industry.
Edge Computing
A computing paradigm that brings computation and data storage closer to the edge of the network, reducing latency and improving performance for edge devices.
e-Learning
A type of education where students work on their own using electronic course materials. Commonly delivered through self paced online courses, instructor led Web conferencing or videos.
Electronic data processing
The automation of business processes to perform routine, standardized sets of transactional activities.
Employee Engagement
Employee engagement, also called worker engagement, is a business management concept. An “engaged employee” is one who is fully involved in, and enthusiastic about their work, and thus will act in a way that furthers their organization’s interests.
Employee Self-Service
Employee self-service allows an employee to handle many job-related tasks (such as applications for reimbursement, updates to personal information, and access to company information) over the company's intranet or portal, via mobile device, or through specialized kiosks, and may be confined to a company's private network or may be part of a Web self-service solution. ESS software is available as a stand-alone product or as a component of some larger application, such as an enterprise resource planning (ERP) product.
