Benchmarking
A measurement of the quality of an organization's policies, programs, strategies, etc., and their comparison with standard or similar measurements of its peers, both internal and external.
Best of Breed
A method where you purchase the best product for each application, often from different software providers. The intent is to get the best functionality for each process regardless of where you purchase it. For example, if the HRMS is purchased from one vendor, the recruiting system form another and a performance management system from yet a third vendor. A term used in relation to software products from different vendors. Usually used to describe options at the enterprise level and implies the integration of the best products within a market segment. For example, the best financial system, the best HR system, etc.
Best-of-Breed Solutions
The approach of selecting and using the best available software or technology solutions for specific tasks or requirements, rather than relying on a single comprehensive system.
Best of Class
A product considered to be superior within a certain category of hardware or software. It does not mean absolute best overall; for example, the best-of-class in a low-priced category may be seriously inferior to the best product on the market, which could sell for ten times as much.
Best Practices
An assessment recommending the most appropriate way of handing a certain type of task, based on an observation of the way that several organizations have successfully handled that task.

A software migration method that involves getting rid of the existing system and transferring all users to the new system simultaneously.
