Extensible Markup Language [XML]

Describes the format, presentation and provides application[1] control over the content of the documents and systems using this language. Much more powerful than HTML[2], XML is likely to be the next generation language for the web and business applications.

A set of software programs designed to achieve a specific task.

2. Hypertext Markup Language [HTML] ( HTML )

A standardized authoring language that is used to tag text files to achieve unique fonts, colors, and other formatting of documents on the Web.
