Metadata

Literally, "data about data.” Metadata describes how and when and by whom a particular set of data was collected, and how the data is formatted. Metadata is essential for understanding information stored in data warehouses. Information about a component or a model and describes the business rules of the data: That is, how the data is going to be used.


Method

A description of what happens, or is carried out, by an object in response to a message. It is also referred to as an operation or service.


Methodology

A systematic way of doing things. It usually refers to the organized approach taken to project management and the sequential steps that need to be carried out and a description of the project deliverables.


Metrics

A measurement based on HR data that is an indicator of company performance or workforce characteristic.


Microservices Architecture

An architectural style that structures an application as a collection of loosely coupled and independently deployable services.


Microsoft Azure

Microsoft’s cloud computing platform that offers a range of services and tools for building, deploying, and managing applications and services in the cloud.


Middleware

Software that acts as a bridge or intermediary between different applications, systems, or components, facilitating communication and data exchange.


Mobile App

A software application developed specifically for use on small, wireless computing devices (mobile devices). Mobile apps are designed with consideration for the demands and constraints of the devices and also to take advantage of any specialized capabilities they have.


Mobile Technology

Technology that is portable. Examples of mobile devices include tablets, smartphones and e-readers. Data storage, processing and display technologies allow these devices to do many of things that had previously been done with the larger desktop computers.


Model

A graphical representation of a real-world event or process that needs to be communicated to all parties involved in system development to understand roles, steps, activities and outcomes associated with business events.
